COSMO and Compass4D reinforce cooperation at the ITS European Congress in Dublin (EN)

Two CIP (Competitiveness & Innovation Program) projects, COSMO and Compass4D came together in a joint workshop on 3 June for the 9th European ITS Congress in Dublin where partners openly discussed the deployment of cooperative systems in European cities. Both COSMO and Compass4D demonstrate the benefits of cooperative mobility services in realistic conditions and quantify their impact on increasing energy efficiency in transport. While the Cosmo project comes to a close, Compass4D is starting up and can directly benefit from Cosmo’s best practises and lessons learnt in order to advance the sustainable deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems in Smart Cities.

Compass4D project consortium meets in Denmark where 90 buses will be equipped and trialled for at least one year (EN)

Copenhagen, 25 April 2013 - After the successful kick-off in Vigo last January, the Compass4D Consortium met for the second time in Copenhagen. The meeting was the opportunity to plan the upcoming work and to participate in the joint workshop with ITS Denmark focusing on ITS deployment best practices. The Copenhagen pilot site is particularly relevant to the project as the city will deploy cooperative systems on at least 90 buses and in 21 traffic signals, becoming the largest test site in Europe to do so.

Vigo, 28 January 2013 - ERTICO - ITS Europe is pleased to announce the launch of the new EU co-funded project Compass4D. The project will prove the benefits of cooperative systems and deploy services for road users to increase road safety and energy efficiency, while reducing the level of congestion in road transport. Compass4D target users are drivers of buses, emergency vehicles, trucks, taxis, electric vehicles and private cars. They all need information to make their driving safer, less stressful and more energy efficient. As a consequence, bus drivers will get support to better keep their time schedules. Emergency vehicles will safely reduce response times to emergency situations and drivers of electric vehicles will benefit from extended driving range.
