Compass4D at the ITS World Congress 2013

Compass4D will host a Special Session titled "Driven by Cities: deployment of cooperative mobility services in urban environment" at the 20th ITS World Congress in Tokyo. The session, to be held on Tuesday 15 October, will focus on the deployment of cooperative ITS in cities and urban areas and on demonstrating how cooperative systems may have positive impacts on local mobility (in terms of safety, efficiency, environment). The session will present real results from deployment initiatives (such as Compass4D) and share positive practices amongst local stakeholders (municipality authorities, emergency services, fleet providers). By giving concrete examples of cities aiming to stimulate a wide deployment of ITS solutions, the session will look also at establishing a base for future political discussions, decisions and worldwide cooperation for deployment of C-ITS with special focus on cities.

Invited speakers include Pierpaolo Tona (Project Manager at ERTICO and Compass4D coordinator), Peter Sweatman (Director at the University of Michigan, USA), Koichi Sakai (Senior researcher for the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism), Jean-Philippe Méchin (Strategic Adviser for mobility at the French Ministry of Ecology, sustainable development and energy), Siebe Turksma (Product researcher at Peek Traffic), and Hossein Zakizadeh (Director of Connected vehicle and infrastructure at Volvo Group).
